Barstow
VCSS Barstow is located in the City of Barstow, California.
Once a small mining center and railroad town in California's Mojave Desert, Barstow is located at the junction of 3 major highways – Interstate 15, Interstate 40 and State Highway 58. It is centrally located in the western Mojave at the entrance to the Mojave National Preserve and is home of the U.S. Army National Training Center, Marine Corps Logistics Base, NASA's Goldstone Deep Space Network and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad Yards.
Our VCSS Barstow site provides much needed programming and services to underserved residents of this California desert community.
Wraparound Services
At VCSS Barstow we offer a range of wraparound services to meet the needs of our local community. These include programs for military families, parent-child interaction programs, and a community resilience program to name a few. Wraparound is a strength based approach which supports youth and their families in identifying their own strengths. Wraparound is an intensive, holistic method of engaging with children with complex needs so that they can live in their homes and communities and realize their hopes and dreams. Our Wraparound model focuses on enhancing youth safety, permanency, and wellbeing through Wraparound programs for vulnerable youth and families. We recognize that no two families are alike, and Wraparound believes in tailoring services to meet each family’s individual and unique needs.
